Introduction
We’re excited to introduce a new update that enhances how service notes are structured. This change splits the Service Note field into two distinct fields, making it easier to manage customer-facing and worker-facing information separately.
What’s Changing?
Previously, service notes were stored in a single field, which could lead to confusion when sharing details with customers and employees. With this update, the Service Note field is now divided into:
- Description – A customer-facing field that outlines the service to be performed. This information can be displayed on Invoices, Estimates, and other customer documents.
- Note – A worker-facing field containing internal notes to be displayed on Jobs, Mobile Work Orders and Standard Work Orders. This ensures that employees have the necessary details without exposing internal notes to customers.
Along with the new and improved fields, you now have the ability to show or hide each field wherever it appears in BizScheduler. Look for the toggle buttons (pictured below) to easily toggle your display.
Where You’ll See These Changes
The new design affects many pages, but the most prominent changes appear on the Job Info, Estimate Edit, and Recurring Job Edit pages, where each service now has separate Description and Note fields. Default values for the two fields can be set on the Services page.
While most functionality remains unchanged, users will also notice a visual adjustment with the new layout.

This update will migrate existing service notes to the Description field, but will not change where those notes are displayed.
If you have any questions about this process or its implications, please create a
support ticket.
Benefits of This Update
- Improved clarity – Customers receive only relevant service descriptions.
- Better organization – Internal notes are kept separate for employees.
- Enhanced usability – A cleaner interface makes it easier to manage service details. Specifically, moving the Service Note and Description to separate lines on the Job Info page reduces the horizontal screen space required. This mean less horizontal scrolling, especially for mobile devices.
Configuration Options
The following
configuration options determine how BizScheduler interacts with service notes and descriptions.
- Auto Fill Service Description – Automatically populate the default description and note when selecting a service for a job or estimate.
- Copy Service Note From Estimate – Include service descriptions and notes when creating a job from an estimate.
- Mobile Work Order Show Service Description (NEW) – Show service descriptions (in addition to service notes) on Mobile Work Orders. Default is Yes.
