Add or Change a Service
To add, change or delete Services you must go to the Hub and click the Services link under the Setup / Configuration section. Click the [New ] button to add a new service, or click on an existing Service to modify it. Once you are entering a new Service, or looking at an existing one, you will see the following components:
- Service: This is the full name that you want to use for the Service. This will appear in your list of services that you schedule for customers and be used in various accounting and reporting functions. (Up to 100 characters)
- Code: This is an abbreviation for the service that is used where space is limited but the information important for you to streamline your operations.
- Background Color: Click on the field to use the color picker to set a display color for this service or select a color to copy from another service by using the dropdown list.
- Billing Type: This defines the nature of the service. You may select from:
- Fixed -- lets you work with Services that use a pre-defined flat rate (e.g. Trip Charge, Account Setup Fee)
- Per Unit -- defines Services that are provided in multiples (e.g. Technician hours, Gallons of paint, Square feet of turf)
- Job Specific -- lets you work with a Service which may typically be different from job to job (e.g. clean windows, install sprinkler system, replace furnace)
- Amount or Rate: This is the Fixed Amount or Per Unit Rate to use for this service. If it is a Per Unit Service Rate, you will also want to enter the Per entry (e.g. hour, foot, sq foot) and the Plural Unit (e.g. hours, feet, sq feet)
- Taxable: Select Yes if this service is subject to tax calculations and you are using taxable services
- Override Amount or Rate with customer Misc Info item: This permits you to identify a Customer Misc Info field that BizScheduler will pull from your customer's record and use for the price of this service. This is ideal for customers with a contracted rate or special in-house account rate.
- Default Description for Estimate: This provides the text that will automatically be entered in the notes section for this service when you create an Estimate. Use this to facilitate rapid estimate creation with the typical text that you would use for this Service. Then all you will need to do is make minor modifications.
- QuickBooks Item Name: This is the Item name that you want this Service to be associated with if you use the QuickBooks interface from BizScheduler. If there is not an exact match when you export completed jobs with this Service to QuickBooks, BizScheduler will give you an error message. You must create the Item in QuickBooks before you continue.
- QuickBooks Class Name: If you are using QuickBooks classes, then you can assign that class here for this service.
Once you have made any changes, be sure to click Save, Save & Return, or Save & New. You can also Delete the service, if it has not been used before, or Make Inactive if it has previously been used on a Job or Estimate.
