Make a Worker Inactive or Delete
Delete a Worker or make a Worker Inactive
In order to delete a worker, a worker must not have any activity associated with them, including jobs they work on, and even items in BizScheduler that either they created or edited. Pretty much the only workers that you can actually delete are workers that never used BizScheduler and perhaps were created accidentally or in error. That said, you can click the [Delete] button at the bottom of their Worker Screen to delete them. If they have been on jobs, or have any data that makes them part of your actual history in some way, then you will get an error message, something like this:
Your other option is to make the worker no longer active, by making sure the Active checkbox is not checked and then saving the record by clicking [Save] or [Save and Return]. If, however, the worker is scheduled for jobs in the future, you will get the following error when you attempt to make them inactive:
Since there could be a job that was inadvertently created way out in the future, it is easiest to use Custom Search under the Tools section of the Hub. Here are the basic steps you should follow once you get to Custom Search:
- Click the [Clear Search] button to make sure that everything from your prior search is cleaned out
- Check the checkboxes to the left of Customer (Customer Name field), the Worker that you are looking for, and the Job Date Between field
- Set the Job Date Between values to have today's date as the from date and leave the through date field blank, so the result will have all jobs starting today and including any jobs in the future...no matter how far in the future they might be
- Click the [Find] button and you will get the list of jobs that you need to either delete or reschedule to another worker
- Click on the Job Date Time of each job to edit it.
Once you have cleared those connections between the worker and future jobs, go back to the Worker Information Screen and make the worker inactive by unchecking the Active checkbox. Then you should be able to [Save] the record successfully.
