Extending a job that is unfinished

Extending a job that is unfinished

There are a variety of ways to add to the schedule of an unfinished job, depending on what best fits your business.

1. Add a segment: The simplest and most common is to add a job segment. From the Job Calendar, click the job that you want to schedule additional time for. That will open the Job Information screen. In the  Scheduled Services section, click the small + icon to the left of the service name for the service that you want to schedule additional time for.

This takes you back to the Job Calendar. Click on an available worker and time to schedule the start time for the new segment. You will then be asked to click on the ending time. You can click the ending time for the same day or you can click the ending time several days later and it it will make that segment multiple days in length.

2. Copy a job. From inside the Job Information screen of the job you want to schedule for additional time, click the [Copy Job] button. You can then go to the Job Calendar and select a time to have a copy of the job scheduled.

This works best for companies that bill each project/task at the end of the day, and each extension is treated in reality like a separate job.

3. Make a Repeating Job. From the job you want to extend, click the [Repeating Job] button and set the frequency to Every 1 Day(s) and then set the # Additional Occurrences (After this specific job's date) to the number of additional days you want the job to run. Click the [Create/Update this Repeating Job] button to create the Repeating Jobs (at this point they are separate jobs), and then click the [Convert to multi-segment job] button to combine the segments into the same job identity.

This approach is best used if you are going to have several additional days of work to add. You can then reschedule any of the individual job segments to fit the schedule.

Which approach you use will, again, depend on your specific needs and workflow.
