Automatically add Finance Charge to cover card fees


Overview

If you charge a fee for your customers who pay with a credit/debit card (or want to!), we have some good news.  We are excited to announce a new feature that, with a single click on the Job Info screen, will automatically calculate and add a new service line to a job with the finance charge.  The charge will be added to the total amount of the job, allowing you to continue directly to entering the payment.  

Key Features

The Auto Add Finance Charge feature automatically calculates finance charges by using a Service that you select and then using the Amount or Rate field in the Service definition as the percentage finance charge to use.

How to Enable & Use Auto Add Finance Charge

  1. Add or Update a Service:

    • From the Hub, click Services

    • Add a new service or update an existing one to be used as your finance charge service.  It will appear as a service item on your jobs, e.g. "Card Fee", "Finance Charge", etc

    • In the Amount or Rate field, enter the finance charge rate as a decimal (e.g., 0.035 for 3.5%)

  2. Configure Auto Finance Charge Service Name:

    • From the Hub, click Configuration Options

    • Find and click on the option Auto Finance Charge Service Name

    • From the drop down list, select the service from step 1

  3. Add the Finance Charge to a Job:

    • On the Job Info screen, ensure one or more services are defined

    • Click the black dollar sign icon on the Total line to add the finance charge to the job.

    • When the screen refreshes, you'll see a new line item using the service defined in step 1, with the Qty of the total amount of the job, and a Rate taken from the Service definition.   In the Actual column is the total finance charge.
